Forty people were evacuated, including four requiring medical assistance – this is the result of the fire that broke out on Tuesday in a block of flats in Sieradz (Łódź Voivodeship). Seven fire brigades were on site.
The fire broke out in the basement of a block of flats at Polna Street. The report was received by the officer on duty around 12 p.m.
As reported by the press officer of the District Commander of the State Fire Service in Sieradz, senior captain Krzysztof Ignaczak, M.A., 40 people were evacuated from the building. Four people suffered carbon monoxide poisoning and required medical assistance in the form of oxygen.
The fire was extinguished and seven fire brigades were on site. Ignaczak said that the building is being inspected to check the possibility of residents returning, and communication routes are being ventilated.
