Police officers from Skawina (Lesser Poland Voivodeship) received a report about a fire in a single-family house. It turned out that there was a 73-year-old man inside, unaware of the situation. The officers took the man outside.
The fire broke out late on Sunday afternoon. “A patrol, which was the first on the scene, was immediately sent to the indicated address. When the police arrived, smoke and fire were coming from the attic of the house, and crackling sounds could be heard, which could indicate cracks in the roofing and trusses, which indicated a high risk. and danger,” we read in a statement from the Krakow district police headquarters.
Short circuit or soot
One of the witnesses told the police that there may be residents in the house. The officers went inside and found a 73-year-old man in the bathroom. The senior had no idea about the fire. The police managed to get him out of the building safely.
The fire was extinguished by a total of seven fire brigades from Skawina and the local Volunteer Fire Department. “It was initially determined that the cause of the fire could have been a short circuit in the electrical installation or ignition of soot in the chimney, but the actual cause of the fire will be determined in the opinion of a fire expert,” the police said. The roof structure was seriously damaged.
