A resident of Wodzisław Śląski reported that someone had stolen a wheelchair belonging to her 17-year-old son. It turned out that the new “owner” asked the police for help in getting into the heating room after the theft. After being arrested, she explained that her legs hurt.
The stroller disappeared from the staircase of a multi-family block at Piastowska Street in Wodzisław Śląski. The police were notified by the mother of the 17-year-old, who normally walks with his help.
The officers matched the description of the stroller. The day before, a woman was driving along it and asked the patrol for help. “She asked for help in transporting her to the warming house, where she wanted to spend the night. The policemen helped her and also suggested that she take advantage of social welfare assistance,” we read in a press release from the Silesian police.
Her legs hurt
The cart was found behind the heating building. We also managed to locate a 34-year-old woman. She was charged with theft. “She confessed. She explained that she stole the stroller because her legs hurt. In the morning, however, she found that it was difficult to ride, so she didn't want it anymore (…) She confessed, but after she found out who the stroller belonged to, “she refused to provide explanations,” reports the Silesian police.
The stroller has already been returned to its owner. The 34-year-old faces up to seven and a half years in prison because she committed the alleged act in a period of recidivism.
