The validity of the elections is confirmed by the Supreme Court. If it finds them invalid, then, according to the constitution, the elections must be organized again. Adjudicating on this matter is the task of the Chamber of Public Affairs and Extraordinary Control, but it includes the so-called neo-judges whose status is questioned in the light of judgments of, among others, European tribunals.
– Regardless of whether I was a candidate for president or not, I would spend this day in spiritual reflection with my family – said Karol Nawrocki, president of the Institute of National Remembrance and the candidate of Law and Justice for president, who was in Gdańsk on Epiphany. in the procession of the three kings.
– This presidency of Mr. Nawrocki may be much worse than the presidency of Andrzej Duda – warns Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense.
The Polish People's Party did not put forward its own candidate in these elections, but supported the candidacy of Szymon Hołownia. – Without Szymon Hołownia's good result, PSL will not have a strong position. Without a good result of our candidate, there will be no change in Poland – points out Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The problem with the Supreme Court chamber
The main topic of the campaign will certainly remain safety. Jarosław Kaczyński, who unfreezed his political friendship with Beata Szydło, would like prices to become the number one topic.
– She was sidelined. Nawrocki's campaign is not a breakthrough, so we are looking for figures who have some positive associations with the first PiS government, comments Michał Szczerba, MEP from the Civic Coalition.
– Perhaps too much money will be spent on him and he (Karol Nawrocki – editor's note) will have to be replaced at the end. If it were Szydło, it would be a surprising moment of the campaign – says Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic, an MP from the Left.
The Marshal of the Sejm is to announce the election date in mid-January. The collection of signatures and registration of all candidates will begin.
Only one thing is certain about the presidential elections: they will take place. It is not certain whether they will be considered valid, because the decisions will be made by an illegal chamber of the Supreme Court. This is primarily a legal problem supported by Law and Justice, which created the illegal and unrecognized Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs of the Supreme Court. It consists of judges nominated by the politicized National Council of the Judiciary.
– I think that even those people who are not judges, but sit in neo-chambers, have a basic sense of responsibility for their actions – comments Michał Szczerba, MEP from the Civic Coalition.
What will happen if the PiS candidate loses?
If, after the elections, electoral protests reach the Supreme Court – and there always are – the court may decide that the elections will have to be repeated.
– The Supreme Court's ruling on the validity of the elections is not related to the fact that it in any way inhibits or interferes with the president taking the oath – says prof. Ewa Łętowska, retired judge of the Constitutional Tribunal.

– If the term of office of the current president ends on August 6, this is the last day on which the newly elected president should be sworn in – points out Dr. Monika Haczkowska, a constitutional expert.
The decision of the “neo-chamber” – as those in power say – will not be recognized by anyone anyway. After the elections, if the PiS candidate loses, the reform of the justice system will begin.
