President Andrzej Duda signed an amendment to the health care act against the consequences of using tobacco and tobacco products. As a result, the sale of tobacco products with a characteristic aroma will be prohibited.

Amendment tobacco act of February 21 prohibits the placing on the market of heated tobacco products with a characteristic aroma. Manufacturers and sellers will get nine months to adapt to the new regulations.

The amendment is implementing the EU directive, which Member States should apply from October 23, 2023.

The act is to come into force after 14 days from the date of publication.

According to the European Commission in recent years, the volume of sales of heated tobacco products has increased by 2009 percent, while the total amount of their share in the tobacco market in the European Union is currently at 3.33 percent.

In the Sejm, work is underway on another government draft amendment to the so -called tobacco act, which will limit the sales of e-cigarettes. Project prepared by Health Ministry It prohibits, among others the sale of all types of electronic cigarettes and spare containers to people under 18, regardless of whether a given product has nicotine or does not have it. The project is at the stage of notification in the European Commission.
