The beginning of the last Saturday match of the Ekstraklasa: Widzew Łódź – Lech Poznań was incredible. After less than 180 seconds, the fans saw the first goal. After a team action, Jakub Łukowski passed to Jakub Sypek in the penalty area, and he shot into the far corner from the corner, giving the hosts the lead. Seven minutes later, Fran Alvarez struck from a free kick from over 30 meters, and the ball ricocheted off goalkeeper Mrozek and went into the net.
Lech was happy with the draw. Only for a moment
Lech Poznań was still able to respond in the first half. The hosts played the ball badly near their own penalty area, the guests intercepted the ball, exchanged a few first-time passes and Ishak scored a goal with a shot from about eleven meters to the far corner.
In the second half, the Poznań team even enjoyed a draw for a moment. In the 79th minute, Dino Hotić, who had been brought onto the pitch fifteen minutes earlier, scored a beautiful header into the net. After a VAR review, the main referee, Szymon Marciniak, disallowed the goal because the referees decided it was offside. However, as replays show, the offside line was drawn incorrectly, because it was from Ishak's hand. According to the rules, you cannot score a goal with your hand, and the offside line is drawn from the most outstretched part of the body that can be used to score a goal.
Then the Poznań team was unable to score an equalizer and Widzew was happy with a 2:1 victory. They could have even won by more, but in the last minute the Albanian Julian Shehu wasted a great opportunity.
In the next round, Lech Poznań will host Lechia Gdańsk (3 August at 8:15 p.m.), while Widzew Łódź will face Cracovia away (5 August at 7 p.m.).
In other Saturday matches of the Ekstraklasa Stal Mielec lost at home to the newcomer to the competition – GKS Katowice 0:1 (0:1)and Radomiak lost to Jagiellonia Białystok 2:3 (0:2).
