The Big Takeover: One of the largest sweets producers in Poland, Przedsiębiorstwo Wyrobów Cukiernicze “Odra” sold “part of the enterprise covering production activities in the area of chocolate candies, caramels, dragees and pralines“. Bets in Brzeg was purchased by another industry giant – Zakłady Przemysłu Cukierniczy “Śnieżka”.
No amount given: In a statement issued by ZPC Otmuchów (which owned the plant in Brzeg), it was noted that price sale was determined on the basis of “such assets as, in particular real estate value, production assets and know-how“However, the amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
This isn't the end of the deal? Interestingly, ZPC Otmuchów does not exclude the possibility of selling other selected assets or changing their purpose. “The closing of the transaction of sale of an organized part of the enterprise does not end the ongoing analysis of the prospects for the operations of the Otmuchów Group, the subject of which is perspectives of other segments and business lines of the group, and assets assigned to them from the point of view of development priorities,” we read in the announcement.
Giant eats giant: Confectionery Company “Odra” has been operating in Poland since 1946. Its offer includes, among others: Opolanki (marshmallows with jelly and jelly in chocolate) and halva. This is exactly what the company wants focus on the production of jelly beans. In turn, Zakłady Przemysłu Cukierniczy “Śnieżka” has been operating since the same year, i.e. for over 70 years. They are known for two large brands of candies: Michałki and Michałki z Hanka.
