Users of the MOBIATR application can use the new “Sign document” service. Thanks to this, the owners of electronic ID cards obtained the possibility of signing statements or other documents addressed, for example, to the office or state institution. – We can use a personal signature in contacts with the administration and then this signature is treated equally with a personal signature – explained on TVN24 BIS Rafał Sionkowski from the Central Information Technology Center.
From February 25, 2025, the latest version of the MOBKitan application began. The “sign a document” service goes to users with it. It will be used by owners of ID card with an electronic layer who have an active personal signature certificate and a 6-digit PIN (so-called PIN2). The phone with NFC and the latest version of the application will allow them to sign documents in PDF format e-proxle.
Rafał Sionkowski, deputy director of the Digital Channel Department from the Central Information Technology Center, assured that it was “completely safe”.
– We use the personal signature that we have in the electronic layer of the ID card. All communication between the ID card and the MOBKitan application is encrypted and thanks to this we can sign a document that we want, for example, to send to the office or to some public administration unit to settle a daily matter. And for several days such a possibility has been available using the new version of the MOBKitan application and an ID card, which we have had for some time – said the expert.
What can we sign?
As explained by Sionkowski, we can use the new functionality of the MOBIATR application in contacts with public administration.
– We can use a personal signature in contacts with the administration and then this signature is treated equally with a personal signature. We can also use a personal signature to settle a more commercial matter, but then we must make sure in advance whether the other party, i.e. the party that will trust this signature, is able to accept and verify this signature – pointed out the guest of TVN24 Bis.
He stipulated that while “in contacts with the administration is certain”, “in other other contacts we must earlier with this page, company or any unit to clarify whether such a document signed in this way using a personal signature will be honored.”
What does the electronic layer mean? How to use it?
To take advantage of the new function of the MOBCIATE application, however, you need to fulfill several conditions. First of all, we must have evidence with an electronic layer, as well as the latest version of the application on our smartphone. But what is this electronic layer at all?
– For several years, all newly issued ID cards have an electronic layer. When completing the application for an ID card, we mark on the form if we want our proof to have a personal signature. If we have expressed such a desire when applying for evidence, then our proof is equipped and we need the latest version of the Mobatwol application – explained Sionkowski.
It indicates that “the process itself lasts literally a few seconds.” – We choose a pdf file on the phone that we want to sign. We add this file to the application. Then we bring proof to the phone and sign the document – he explained. – We can then send such a document using a phone, e-mail or in any way to a public administration unit, which will then verify this document. So that it is basically extremely simple. The very process of bringing evidence to the phone lasts literally 2-3 seconds and the document is then signed – the expert added.
Step by step instruction
The “Sign document” service conducts the user through the entire step by step process, so just perform the activities described in it.
The Ministry of Digitization is advising to best prepare a signature file in PDF format in advance. Its maximum size is 10 MB, and at one time you can sign one document in the application. Then prepare an e-edge, a 6-digit PIN for a personal signature (so-called PIN2) and enable NFC on the phone. To improve connectivity with e-mail, it is recommended to take a photo from the phone case or other protective accessories.
To sign a document, open the “sign the document” service and follow the instructions visible on the screen. The application will display welcome messages with a list of preliminary tips. Then he will ask to add a document to the signature.
The next step is to enter the 6-digit number of CAN E-Enad, which is visible in the lower right corner of the document on the photo page. Then enter the 6-digit PIN (so-called PIN2). This code is determined at the office by the owner of the document during the receipt of the e-edge. In the next step, the application will ask for an e-edge to the back wall of the phone, where the NFC module is located. At this point, a personal signature is made of an e-edge on a PDF document.
After completing the action, the user can save or open the document if he uses Android. It is important to save the document in the memory of your device at this stage, because the signed documents are not stored in the MOBKI Citizen application. For users of devices with iOS, saving the document in the device's memory will take place automatically.
The personal signature of the e-edge is equivalent to the handwritten signature in contact with public administration. This means that in this way you can sign an application, statement or other type of document addressed to the office or state institution and send it, e.g. via e -mail.
In the case of other entities, such as private individuals, companies or private organizations, both parties must first determine that they honor this type of signature in mutual relations to make it valid.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitization Krzysztof Gawkowski emphasizes that the “Sign document” service is “one of the greater achievements of recent months”.
Until now, the use of a personal signature from the e-edge was possible via e-IDODODE software manager in a computer or EDO App. In the first case, the owner of the document needs an e-edge reader to be able to use the personal signature certificate and sign the document with it. The EDO App is a solution for mobile devices that allows you to sign a document using an e-edge and NFC on the phone.
The MOBKITNA application, like Edo AP, uses wireless communication and allows you to use the personal signature certificate of the e-edge via the NFC module on the phone. Signing documents, however, no longer requires installing a separate application.
The ministry points out that the document can be added from the selected place, including the phone, cloud or disk. Signing a PDF file with an e-mail in a mobile lasts only a few minutes. The condition is to have a valid e-edge with an active personal signature certificate and a 6-digit PIN (so-called PIN2), which is required to submit it.
