Afghan armed forces carried out attacks on “several points” in neighboring Pakistan, the Afghan Defense Ministry said on Saturday. This is in response to Pakistani airstrikes in the east of the country on Wednesday.
The ministry did not provide any details about the attack, not even mentioning the name of the neighboring country. He said the attacks were carried out “several points” behind a “hypothetical line.” This is the phrase used by the Afghan authorities in relation to the unrecognized border with Pakistan.
On Wednesday, Afghan news agency Khaama reported that at least 15 people, including women and children, were killed in airstrikes carried out by Pakistani forces on five villages in the Barmal district of eastern Paktika province in Afghanistan.
The Afghan authorities had already warned that they would retaliate against the bombings. Pakistan he maintained that his targets were hideouts of Islamic militants along the border.
Afghanistan-Pakistan border
Afghanistan has been contesting the so-called border with Pakistan for decades. The Durand Line, drawn by the British colonial authorities in the 19th century, recalled the Reuters agency.
On Saturday, AFP also reported that one Pakistani soldier was killed in an exchange of fire with Afghan forces in the border region.
