A resident of Zduńska Wola (Łódź Voivodeship) tied his dog in front of the store and went shopping. When he left the store, he forgot about the animal. The dog stood there for six hours until a store employee became interested in him. The case was investigated by the police. The owner was traced thanks to the dog's chip.
The incident took place on Saturday (November 23) in Zduńska Wola. After 4 p.m., the officer on duty at the local police station received a report from an employee of the grocery store at Plac Wolności. It concerned a dog tied to a railing near the entrance to the store. The reporting person untied the dog and took care of it.
The dog was returned to its owner
– She said that shortly after 9 a.m. a man came to the store and had previously tied the animal to the railing in front of the store. After making the purchase, he went in an unknown direction, leaving the dog unattended – reported junior aspirant Katarzyna Biniaszczyk from the police in Zduńska Wola.
The district officers used a scanner to read the number on the dog's chip and identified its owner. – It turned out that a 75-year-old woman had entrusted the care of the dog to her son that day. Since she didn't have any information from him about where the dog was, she started looking for the dog herself. She was very happy when she heard from the district officials that nothing happened to the dog and that it was safe and sound. Her 54-year-old son confirmed that he forgot to take his dog when leaving the store. Despite his mother's questions about where the dog was, he did not provide any information, said midshipman Biniaszczyk.
The policewoman also reminded that Article 77 of the Code of Petty Offenses states that anyone who does not take ordinary or prescribed precautions when keeping an animal will be subject to the penalty of restriction of liberty, a fine of up to PLN 1,000 or a reprimand.
