Work is underway to build a tram route to the Western Railway Station. Tram drivers showed how an underground tram stop is being built.

“The intermediate ceiling between levels -2 and -1 and 2/3 of the upper ceiling have already been completed. We anticipate that the stop structure will be closed at the turn of November and December. The contractor will carry out further works underground,” Tramwaje Warszawskie informed, showing on social media the latest photos from the works in progress.

As they recalled, the structure of the underground tram stop is being built as part of the reconstruction of the Warszawa Zachodnia railway station.

On Tuesday, we reported on tvnwarszawa.pl that Work is underway on the southern road of Aleje Jerozolimskie in connection with the construction of the tram route to the Western Railway Station. Drivers drive in both directions on the northern road. There are three lanes in each direction – two public lanes and two bus lanes.

People going to the center have one lane less after the intersection with Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 Street. A few dozen meters further, they can cross over to the other lane, and they will return to the proper road just before the intersection with SokoÅ‚owskiego “GrzymaÅ‚y” Street. In turn, buses run in both directions using bus lanes marked on the northern road. The disruptions on Aleje Jerozolimskie should end around the summer of 2025.

Five minutes from Grójecka to the Western Railway Station

The tram route along Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 Street will be over one and a half kilometers long. One third will be in a tunnel – this is the first underground tram route in the capital. The tunnel exit will be located between the roads of the Battle of Warsaw 1920 (between the Automotive and Secondary School Complex and the Ibis hotel). The first ground stop will be at Szczęśliwicka. In turn, a junction will be built at Grójecka Street, allowing trams to turn towards the center, OkÄ™cie or the Banach loop.

As many as 900 meters of tracks will be green and covered with sedum. The travel time from Grójecka to the West Railway Station will be five minutes, and from Metro Politechnika – fifteen minutes. As the town hall assures, the investment will be ready in 2026 and will cost PLN 363 million.
