The second case of abuse against a ward was discovered at the District Educational Center in Jerzmanice-Zdrój in Lower Silesia, informed the Deputy Minister of Justice, Maria Ejchart. A second educator was arrested in connection with violence at the facility. – We are investigating the whole matter very intensively. It is very important to explain it – emphasized Adam Bodnar, Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24.

– As a result of the inspector's work carried out at the center, we revealed one more case of violating the inviolability of a minor and using violence against him by another educator – said Maria Ejchart, Deputy Minister of Justice.
It's about the center in… Jerzmanice-Zdrój, where a teacher had previously beaten a 13-year-old boy. As we reported, he was hospitalized last week after taking his own life.
Another detained educator
During a press conference on Thursday, Ejchart noted that the prosecutor's office was notified about the inspector's findings, and the educator was removed from work at the facility and suspended from his duties. She added that he had already been detained by the prosecutor's office and actions involving him were ongoing.
– The case of violence revealed this week is a situation from last week, it concerns another boy, and the detained person is an experienced educator – said the deputy minister.
The first suspected educator, 60-year-old Jacek T., was temporarily arrested for two months. He was charged with abusing a minor who was in a dependent relationship with the educator. The spokeswoman of the District Prosecutor's Office in Legnica, Prosecutor Lilianna Łukasiewicz, informed that the suspect's actions led a minor to take his own life. The educator faces up to 15 years in prison. The prosecutor added that the suspect gave explanations, but did not admit to committing the crime.

Reacting to these events, Ministry of Justice has established a crisis team, and the ministry submits reports on activities carried out in this case to the prosecutor's office. A team of psychologists will start working with the pupils at the center on Friday.
Invitation for the children's rights advocate
The Ministry of Justice intends to invite the children's rights ombudsman to cooperate. – In order to look further, systemically, we would like to invite the spokeswoman to talk about what we can do next with the conclusions from this event – explained Ejchart.
Next week, the deputy head of the ministry will also meet for the same purpose with the directors of all educational centers, shelters for minors and correctional facilities subordinated to the ministry.
The ministry created assumptions for a new act on the social rehabilitation of minors. – I hope that in the first quarter of next year we will come up with a bill proposal – she said.

– This is a great tragedy. Such things should not happen in any place of deprivation of liberty, especially in educational centers. We are investigating the whole matter very intensively. It is very important to clarify the whole matter, said the minister.
– Unfortunately, the inspector who visited this center discovered that another educator could also use violence. This shows that we have a big crisis. It is the responsibility of the ministry to explain all this, but also to consider how we can support both the pupils, but also the educators, the staff of correctional facilities, juvenile shelters, and district educational centers. Because many good people work in these places, but such situations cannot occur – added the minister.
