Attack in the morning
The hospital was bombarded right after 4 am local time, a little later aviation also attacked the area around the market in Old Fangak, which caused universal panic – the Associated Press agency said, citing eyewitnesses.
As the Associated Press commented, Saturday raids are proof of further escalation of the conflict, in which government troops, supported by special units from Uganda, intensify attacks on opposition forces.

The UN mission in South Sudan assessed in March that the country is balancing on the brink of civil war. In mid -February this year, the fights between the government army, i.e. the South Southeast forces of Defense of the People (SSPDF), and paramilitary units of the White Army in Nil Górny began.
Members of the group of fighters come mainly from the Ethnic Group of Nuer, conflicted with the Dinka tribe.

Situation in Sudan
South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in 2011 and is the youngest country in the world.
In December 2013, the country plunged into a civil war based on ethnic divisions between Dinki and Nuera. Over 400,000 people were killed in the five -year conflict, and about four million were displaced. Pursuant to the 2018 peace agreement, a national unity government was created and nationwide elections were planned for February 2023, but they were initially postponed to December 2024, and then to 2026.
