The numbers of the destroyed ring were only read after a few days. As it turned out, this is the oldest recorded fish in Poland. The ornithologist, who rocked him 23 years ago, is 90 years old today. It was in his honor that the bird got the name Nestor.
He appeared for the first time in a specially created artificial nest near the Barlinek Forest near Barlinek (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship) on April 9. He had an old ring on his leg, whose numbers were hard to read.
– We thought it was not a Polish bird, these wedding rings are no longer used. We thought they were fish from Finland And he will fly away, and he began to build a nest, bring sticks – says Dr. Dariusz Anderwald, president of the Eagle Protection Committee. – We devoted a few days to determine what a wedding ring. After analyzing several dozen photos, we put the code together and it came out: BA00645, Poland. It was hard for us to believe it. We sent it to the ornithological station and confirmed that it was Polish fish. The wedding ring was so unusual, because old, from 2002. We no longer use such – he adds.

He got the name Nestor
The artificial nest is built by people at the BTS tower at a height of 60 meters. Only thanks to installing the cameras online did they learn that this extraordinary guest settled them.
Dariusz Anderwald says it is a “golden shot”. There are only 40 such artificial nests for fisheries in Poland, only three in the Barlinecka Forest.
