Italian builders are seeking €222 million in compensation from the owner of the Bayesian yacht, which sank off the coast of Sicily in August. This is to compensate for image damage, the company explained, noting that it was supposed to be a vessel considered “unsinkable”.
On August 19 this year, the Bayesian sank during a tornado at night while moored near Porticello. Seven people died, including British billionaire Mike Lynch, the yacht's owner, and his daughter, as well as Morgan Stanley International CEO Jonathan Bloomer and his wife.

The prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation into the disaster, including the captain. Human error is not ruled out. One of the probable causes is that the yacht's hatches may have been open, as well as the possible disregard of signs of an approaching storm. The yacht lies on the seabed at a depth of about 50 meters; preparations are underway to extract it.
The daily Il Giornale di Sicilia reported Sunday that the claim was filed by the listed company The Italian Sea Group, which built the British-flagged Bayesian, a 56-meter yacht with a 75-meter aluminum mast, the tallest of its kind in the world.
The lawsuit was filed against the yacht's owner, based on the Isle of Man. The company is formally run by Lynch's wife, Angela, who survived the disaster.
Another aspect of the luxury yacht case is reported by the daily “La Stampa”, which points out that everything indicates that the wreck lying on the seabed may contain secret data in its safes, including: Chin and Russiaand related to Mike Lynch's activities in the field of technology. Therefore, the Italian newspaper claims, the intelligence services took over supervision of the wreck.
