Government German condemned on Wednesday a series of attacks on New Year's Eve using fireworks against police officers, which led to the arrest of several hundred people in Berlin alone, the AP reported.

More than 30 apartments are currently uninhabitable
“The deployment of large police forces from the federal states and the federal police, as well as the early and consistent fight against (violence against representatives of the services – ed.) are the appropriate measures against the perpetrators of violence and chaos,” said German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser on Wednesday.
As reported by the dpa agency, five people died on New Year's Eve due to fireworks hits across the country. At the same time, many people were injured in Berlin, where fireworks damaged house facades and broke windows. According to dpa, more than 30 apartments in the capital are currently uninhabitable.
