The man is serious when he talks about the future of the city. He notes that even if the garbage is cleaned, the related problems will not disappear immediately. Rodents will probably start nesting in homes and cars. There will also be more and more of them. Under optimal conditions, rats are born every three weeks. Each litter is from 6 to 12 young people – explains William Timms and adds: “We will be completely flooded.”
The vision of rats and subsequent waste is also worried about the inhabitants. One of them notes in an interview with CNN that now “there is rubbish everywhere and rats are everywhere”. – Rats are larger than cats. My cats are afraid of them – says the man. – We can't open windows because of the smell. There is garbage everywhere – he is echoed by Rubina Yaqoob, the interlocutor of “The New York Times”. Alice Porter says Skynews that although she survived the strikes of various professions in Birmingham, “she has never seen something like that in the city.” – It's really terrible. These are not good living conditions, especially in 2025. I understand why (exporting garbage) they strike, but we (because of it) suffer – adds the woman.
Talks of strikers with the authorities are to be continued on Monday. Birmingham is the second largest city of Great Britain. According to ONS estimates, the British statistical office is inhabited by over 1.1 million people.
