A team of maritime biologists from the NGO Condrik-Tenerife captured the very rare deep-falley Melanacetus Johnsonia from the Melanacetidae family on the recording. It appeared only two kilometers from the coast of Tenerife.

Until now, only dead adults of this species have been seen near the surface. This observation is considered very special, although the exact causes of the presence of fish in shallow waters remain unknown. “There may be thousands of reasons she was there, but we just don't know it,” Valor said. “It could be the first time when the fish was filmed in such conditions,” she added.
After the death of the fish, the research team carefully transported it in a container filled with a container to the Museum of Nature and Archeology (MUNA) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for further research.
