Zbigniew Boniek he has been a suspect since September 2. It was then that the current vice-president of UEFA reported to the Szczecin prosecutor's office as a witness. After testifying, the prosecutor charged him with acting to the detriment of the Polish Football Association, which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison.

“The prosecutor accused the suspect that in the period from November 2014 to August 2021, as the president of the Polish Football Association, acting jointly and in consultation with other people, he caused significant material damage to the Polish Football Association in the amount exceeding PLN 1 million in connection with the sponsorship agreement” – Wirtualna Polska reported then. Boniek he was then interrogated as a suspect and then released without any preventive measure. He pleaded not guilty.
This is a case from 2014. The association then signed an agreement with the Ustronianka company, which became the sponsor of the Polish national team. At that time, the federation was to pay approximately PLN 1 million to the wind energy company Ottair as a commission. Boniek explained that PZPN received PLN 20 million in connection with the contract. The commission paid to the intermediary was seven percent. – I am honest, clean. Now to the allegations against Boñka UEFA, of which he is vice-president, responded. – UEFA does not comment on ongoing legal proceedings and strongly believes in the principle of presumption of innocence in every court case – the press office replied to a question “PrzeglÄ…d Sportowy”.
Investigators found a clue in this case while investigating the so-called drainage scandal. It concerned the setting up of over 100 tenders for the Water Facilities Melioration Board in Szczecin for the amount of over PLN 600 million. In 2022, the CBA detained the then member of the PZPN management board, Jakub Tabisz, and the former secretary general of the association, Maciej Sawicki.
