A bust of former Polish Prime Minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki has disappeared from the center of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, local portal Klix reports. The capital's authorities indicated that “the bust was not removed for cleaning and a decision on further proceedings will be made soon.”
From the center of the capital Bosnia and HerzegovinaSarajevo, the bust of former Polish Prime Minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki has disappeared – the Klix portal reported on Friday. A bust commemorating the Polish Prime Minister was placed in Sarajevo four years ago.
Mazowiecki's words were engraved on the plinth: “Because of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the stability of the international order and the principles of civilization are at stake.”

Mazowiecki is a “sincere friend” of Bosnia and Herzegovina
When the monument was erected, the Sarajevo authorities explained that they wanted to commemorate “a sincere friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina”. Responding to the portal's question, the capital authorities noted that “the bust was not removed for cleaning and a decision on further proceedings will be made soon.”
Tadeusz Mazowiecki – as Bosnian media recalled – criticized European countries for late reactions to events in this country during the war in the 1990s. As a special envoy UN in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Polish prime minister publicized mass executions and systematic rapes.
Mazowiecki resigned from this position in 1995, justifying his decision by the inaction of the superpowers in the face of the crimes committed in BiH, mainly the murder in Srebrenica by the troops of Republika Srpska of over eight thousand Muslim men and boys.
