The downpours hit Southern Brazil on Monday. The most difficult situation prevailed in the Sao Paulo region, where water flooded several important communication thoroughfare. Urban transport was suspended, and thousands of houses remained without access to electricity.
On Monday, heavy rainfall swept over southern Brazil. He fell most in the Sao Paulo metropolitan area – in the suburbs of Maua in the suburbs in a few hours, the sum of rainfall was 131 liters of water per square meter. Paralysis on the roads
In Sao Paulo, the capital of the region, several bus lines and railway connections were temporarily suspended. On the flooded streets there were lifeguards and amphibians, to which the teams of rescuers were taken by people surprised by the element. In Maua, as a result of the downpour, a residential building collapsed, but the firefighters managed to determine that at the time of the incident no one was inside.
According to local media, due to the downpour of over 100,000 households, access to electricity has been deprived of. Heavy rain and strong wind were hosted by wires, the transmission stations were flooded locally.
On Monday evening, strong gusts arrived at Rio Grande, located in the city of Porto Alegre. The element broke the trees, turned off vehicles, and destroyed energy networks and building facades.
