Brazilian services intercepted weapons and 134 kilograms of cocaine, which were located under the hull of the Polish ship. The operation was carried out when the unit was moored in the port of Santos. Krzysztof Gogol, spokesman for Polska Żegluga Morska, confirmed that it was the POLSTEAM Łebsko ship. – The drugs were found by a diver under the hull during an inspection – he explained. He added that because the cocaine was outside the ship, the authorities removed it and “the crew were able to continue their journey without any further consequences.”
Authorities Brazil reported that on Wednesday evening, the Federal Tax Office, as part of a joint operation with the Brazilian Navy, police and port guards, intercepted 134 kilograms of cocaine in the port of Santos.
The drugs were located in the ship's “sea chest.” As explained, this is a place underwater that collects seawater to cool engines. A Glock pistol with magazines was also found there.
The authorities said that the inspection of the vessel, as well as the operation itself to remove the drugs, required the participation of divers.
It added that the bulk carrier, which was moored in Santos, was heading to Morocco.
