Jair Bolsonaro, former president of Brazil, underwent over 11-hour abdominal surgery on Sunday. It was the most complicated of a number of surgical procedures that was subjected to a knife at the election rally in 2018.
“The operation went without complications,” said CNN Brasil, citing the Hospital's message in Brasilia, where Bolsonaro was operated.
The daily “Folha de Sao Paulo” reminded that it was the sixth and at the same time the longest and the most complicated operation that Bolsonaro had undergone, since he was stabbed in the stomach in 2018. The operation began after 10 am local time, and around 21.20 was the first lady Michelle Bolsonaro announced its completion.
70-year-old Bolsonaro was hospitalized on Friday, when due to severe abdominal pain he had to stop a series of meetings with his supporters in the north-eastern part of the country. The right-wing politician who ruled the country in 2019-2022 is seeking the Congress of the Amnesty Act for their supporters, who after losing the 2022 election initiated riots and stormed government buildings.
