The police entered one of the halls in a town near Bydgoszcz and found a woman cutting raw meat there. This confirmed the suspicions that there was an illegal process of producing kebab meat there, which did not have the required veterinary markings and had not undergone tests.
The processing plant was discovered by Bydgoszcz police officers dealing with combating economic crime. When they went to check information about an illegal processing plant in a town near Bydgoszcz, they found a woman cutting raw meat in one of the halls. Plastic crates of meat stood on the table and floor.
Nearly two tons of meat
In total, there were 1,600 kilograms of frozen meat and about 200 kilograms of raw meat. The total value was estimated at approximately PLN 70,000.
The policemen were accompanied by the district veterinarian. According to his knowledge, there was no consent to conduct business related to the production of kebab meat in this place. “The meat did not have any veterinary markings and was not subject to appropriate tests,” the release noted.
They determine the scope of responsibility
Com. Lida Kowalska from the city police in Bydgoszcz emphasized that the case is at a very early stage. We are checking whether kebab meat has been placed on the market. No one was charged.
The police initiated proceedings regarding the introduction of products of animal origin to the market in a manner inconsistent with the type of activity specified for a given entity in the register kept by the district veterinarian.
– The case is ongoing, and who will suffer what consequences will be determined by the proceedings – added Kom. Kowalska.
