The cleaning robot drives around on its own apartmentavoids obstacles, collects dustcleans wet stains, and some more expensive models empty the garbage automatically. Sounds great, right? Of course, not everything is so rosy.
Classic vacuum cleaner – old but reliable?
There is no denying that a traditional vacuum cleaner is a piece of equipment tested and universal. We can use it to clean more than just floorsbut also sofas, curtains and interior car. Thanks to different tips, it will reach every nook and cranny. And most importantly, it is much cheaper. However, it requires our intervention and time.
When it comes to cleaning robots, the biggest advantage is their independence. We can go to work and come back to find clean floors. Better models (which are often more expensive) map rooms and cleverly avoid obstacles. Some even empty the dust container themselves.
But its possibilities are limited only to floors. The robot will not clean the upholstery or interior of the car, and it will not cope with larger garbage. Moreover, cheaper models get lost in space more easily and can get stuck under furniture
Who needs a robot and who needs a vacuum cleaner?
The robot will work great in modernly furnished apartments. If you have mostly flat surfaces, few carpets and furniture – you will be satisfied. However, if you have a two-story house, a lot of furniture and standing equipment, animals or a lot of textiles – the robot itself is unlikely to be enough. This is where the power of a traditional vacuum cleaner comes in handy.
It's a matter of money and expectations
For the price of a good robot (i.e. for at least PLN 1,500), we can buy a really great traditional vacuum cleaner. Cheaper robots (below PLN 1,000) are often disappointing – they drive chaotically around the apartment, they cope poorly with obstacles, and their cleaning efficiency leaves much to be desired. They are good for keeping an already clean house clean.
So if you want a cleaning robot, you should have classic equipment anyway. The robot can collect dust and hair from the floors every day, while a traditional vacuum cleaner will be useful for thorough cleaning or in situations when something suddenly gets the floors very dirty.
