The Canadian police informed about the arrest of a man who barricaded himself in one of the parliament buildings in Ottawa on Saturday afternoon. The motives of his action are currently unknown.
The police in Ottawa informed on Saturday late in the evening that “the call to a baricaded man in East Block ended without incidents.” “One person is detained. The investigation led by the police in Ottawa continues,” the police wrote on platform X, adding that they intend to provide more details on Sunday morning.
The Canadian Toronto Star portal reported that the building lock lasted for eight hours.
The incident occurred on Saturday just before 3pm of local time. There were no reports about the victims. Late in the evening, inspector Mark Bouwmeester told reporters that “the circumstances of this event are considered suspicious” and the police “is in contact with this person, the priority is a calm solution of the situation.” However, he did not provide more details about the incident, so it is not known whether the man is armed and whether he was threatened by anyone or anything.
