The founder of HBO has died: At the age of 98 Charles F. Dolan diedwho founded some of America's most famous media companies. The man's family reported that died of natural causes. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved father and family man, Charles Dolan, the visionary founder of HBO and Cablevision,” the statement read, quoted by AP News.

Who was Dolan? Charles F. Dolan's legacy in cable television included the 1972 launch of Home Box Office, later known as HBO. The 98-year-old also became famous for his founding in 1973 Cablevision and a television station American Movie Classics in 1984. Dolan he also launched News 12 in New York – is the first 24-hour local news cable channel in the US.

Billionaire's family: At the time of his death, Charles F. Dolan and his family had net worth of $5.4 billion – Forbes calculated. The 98-year-old had six children, 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His wife, Helen Ann Dolan, died in 2023.
