There was a tragic accident near Bogota on Saturday morning of a bus carrying veterinary students. The vehicle overturned on a bend. At least five people were killed and 23 injured, Colombian authorities said.
The accident occurred on the route connecting Bogota with the city of La Mesa, 50 kilometers away, in the Cundinamarca department, the website of the weekly “Semana” reported.
There were 28 veterinary students on the bus. At some point, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The surveillance footage published by the local media shows the speeding bus overturning on a bend and sliding along the road until its roof hits the fence.
Five people died and 23 were injured, confirmed the governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey Angel, on X. The politician posted two photos from the scene of the tragedy.
The injured were transported to hospitals. Initial findings indicate that the accident may have been caused by a technical fault, but the authorities are investigating to confirm this, Semana reported.
