At least nine people, including seven children from one family, died in the east Democratic Republic of the Congo as a result of a landslide caused by heavy rains – local government representative Thomas Bakenga said on Saturday.
One of the residents of Kabul village in South Kivu province lost his wife and children in the tragedy. Bakenga added that one child died elsewhere and a the death toll may increasebecause the search is still ongoing.

A local community organization reported that seven houses collapsed with the groundand 31 were damaged. According to this source, ten people died.
