The “crisis guide” should encourage citizens to have cash stocks in the event of a crisis – recommends a coalition for cash in a letter addressed to the Minister of the Interior. – Cash in crisis situations is a very important equipment of the citizen – believes Rafał Górski, president of the Institute of Civil Affairs.
They work on the “crisis guide” Of the Ministry of Interior and AdministrationMinistry of National Defense and the Government Security Center. It will be modeled on a Swedish guide.
As Rafał Górski emphasized, the coalition for cash recommends that the guide encourages citizens to have cash.
“The Swedish brochure” In the event of a crisis or war 'contains the following information: Possibility to pay in various ways definitely improves readiness. Use cash from time to time. It is worth having cash in various denominations for at least a week “ – wrote a coalition in a letter to the minister Tomasz Siemoniak.
Rafał Górski, when asked about the reason for such an appeal, replied that “cash in crisis situations is a very important equipment of a citizen.” He reminded that everyone in Poland experienced this in 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, when “withdrawals from ATMs all over Poland reached its zenith, which can be observed on the charts made available by the National Bank of Poland.”
Cash in case of crisis
Górski also pointed out that the second such crisis was the beginning wars in Ukraine – “Also, the Poles started to pay money massively,” he said. He added that the desire to have cash with you in crisis situations is “on the one hand civic instinct, on the other hand, common sense”.
At the same time, the head of the Institute of Civil Affairs expressed satisfaction that the government Donald Tusk He decided to issue and send a brochure to all households that would instruct how to survive in danger situations. Because, as he said, we live in dangerous times and we should be prepared for the fact that in the future, also nearby “various things, e.g. cyberrataki for our critical infrastructure, may happen, which may cause, for example, Black-Outa that lasts for a long time.” Then – he noted – it is worth having cash with you, because electronic money will stop working for some time.
– The Swedish government also recommends its citizens to prepare a supply of cash just in case – at least for a week. However, I would advise that in connection with the fact that prices during the crisis always go up, that we would make such a financial tab in the form of three times a sum, which we normally spend on life during seven days – recommended Górski.
He also stated that he would recommend diversification of financial resources – e.g. to keep part of the value in domestic cash, some in a foreign currency, and some in gold or jewelry.
He added that Swedish experts recommend citizens to pay cash from time to time. – This is very important because it shows that cash is needed and we should not liquidate it – noted Górski.
Work is underway on the “crisis guide”
As the deputy head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Wiesław Leśniakiewicz, the “crisis guide”, will be modeled on the Swedish guide, which was also published in the Polish language version. – It turns out that over 90 percent of citizens Sweden It has a positive approach to this guide and we hope that the same reception will be in Poland – pointed out Leśniakiewicz.
He emphasized that in a crisis situation, the state would not replace the actions of the citizen himself and each of us should be prepared as part of its abilities for at least three days of survival without the help of state structures.
– Let's have a supply of water, necessary drugs, hygiene -sanitary products, food supply, lighting that will work without an electrical network, charged powerbanks. Let's also have a transistor radio, because today we forgot that it could sometimes be the only medium to receive messages – recommended the deputy head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration. However, this is not all, because RCB in their guides, including Those regarding the equipment of the evacuation backpack, emphasizes that you should have cash with you in small denominations.
