Crisis in Janów Podlaski. Deputy Minister: The best horses were sold out during PiS rule

When appearing on behalf of PiS, MP Kazimierz Choma asked on Thursday in the Sejm what steps the Ministry of Agriculture intends to take to stop the total fall of Arabian horse breeding in Poland. He said now Losses in Arabian horse studs are the greatest in history – At the Studnina in Janów Podlaski they amount to PLN 4 million, and in Michałów – PLN 3.9 million.

He noted that several horses fell in Janów, a few had to be killed because of the injuries. The MP noted that the irregularities in the organization of the Arabian Horse Day in 2024 launched a prosecutor's investigation, and the fictitious sales of the star at last year's Pride of Poland auction – Ziga Zana's mare, which reached a price of 145 thousand. euro, it ended with compromise, because nobody wants to pay the auctioned amount.

Deputy Minister Czerniak admitted that there was NIK control regarding the Pride of Poland auction, but “the post -audit report did not find any deficiencies in this respect.” He emphasized that the reconstruction of breeding is a long -term process and PiS has no moral law to accuse the current management of the studs of neglect.

Czerniak reminded that during the PiS rule in 2015-2023, 10 board members were changed in the Stadnina in Janów Podlaski, and 6 members in Michałów. In his opinion, such frequent staff changes caused turmoil.

– The best horses have been sold out, genetically destroyed, rebuilding them is a process and it takes years to improve these issues – said the deputy head of MRIRW. He admitted that currently the financial results of these companies are weak, but this does not mean that they are catastrophic.

However, Fryderyk Kampinos (PiS) inquired why the general director of the National Agricultural Support Center (KOWR) secret a report on his order on the state of Arabian breeding. According to media reports, the report was to be shocking for 8 years of PiS rule in studs. The report was forwarded to the prosecutor's office, which after reading it refused to initiate proceedings due to the lack of signs of crime. Czerniak explained that the report has been classified as it contains information on horse genetics.
