Przemysław Czarnek claims that Karol Nawrocki had a lot of support for voters and members of the Polish People's Party in both presidential elections. According to him, they cast more votes for the PiS candidate than for the KO candidate. However, no national polls available confirm this. We also have the reaction of PSL itself.

Words of PiS MP Przemysław Czarnek about the alleged great support of members of the Polish People's Party for Karol Nawrocki fell on June 3 in the program “No unnamed“Radio Three. The conversation concerned the idea of a supreme calling technical government proposed after the election by Jarosław Kaczyński. Czarnek spoke about the PSL report from PiS and stated that:

The overwhelming majority of activists of the Polish People's Party and voters – those who remained at the Polish People's Party – voted for Karol Nawrocki. Also in the first round of voting.

The MP spoke with conviction of the support of the People's Party for Nawrocki. We wanted to check if it really was or could have been. However, there is no data that would confirm Czarka's words. He himself did not answer the publication of this text at our request for the source of his claim. PSL denies the tendencies presented by a PiS MP.

The polls do not distinguish PSL voters from the third road

During this year's presidential election, two large research agencies on behalf of the media were prepared by the post -election surveys Exit Poll and Late Poll. The IPSOS Institute has prepared research for TVN24, Polsat News and TVP, while the National Research Group (OGB) for Telewizja Republika. However, none of them took into account the PSL voters separately. Because PSL entered a coalition with the Polish 2050 party Szymon Hołownia before the parliamentary elections in 2023, creating a third way. And that's why voters of these two parties were counted together in polls – as voters of the third road.

Both polls confirmed this in response to the editorial questions of the SPORT24. “CAFETERIA Answers in the question about parliamentary preferences 2023 contained a list of groups in accordance with the one that was registered by the PKW – so it was the third road, i.e. Poland 2050 and PSL. To sum up: based on our polls/pre -election research, you can only determine 'flows'/behavior of the third road voters together” – explains Paweł Predko from the board of the Polish IPSOS Branch.

How did the flow of this electorate look like? In the first round of elections, according to Late Poll Ipsos, 22.6 percent voted for Rafał Trzaskowski. Third way voters from parliamentary elections in 2023. Karol Nawrocki won 4 percent votes. this electorate. In the second round, on June 1, the votes of the third road voters spread as follows: – At Rafał Trzaskowski – 79.1 percent. – at Karol Nawrocki – 20.9 percent These results, both after first What second Turn, we presented on TVN24+. According to them, in both turns, the candidate KO won a lot more votes of the third way voters than the PiS candidate – but as the votes spread out among these voters, it is not known.

The OBG Institute told us that from his survey for Telewizja Republika it is also impossible to distinguish the preferences of the people themselves. “We did not ask separately about PSL in our study in 2025” – said Łukasz Pawłowski, president of OGB.

PSL research indicates other preferences

With the question of whether the thesis of MP Czarnek about the vote of representatives and supporters of PSL is correct, we turned to the party itself. The PSL press office replied Zakwiet24 that during the presidential campaign, internal reviews of opinion among PSL members were carried out twice. The first – at the beginning of 2025, the second – right after the end of the first round of elections on May 18. “Several thousand people from all over Poland took part in both,” informs the press office. Internal tests of the party show a completely different trend than the one that the former minister talked about.

The party gave us the results of this research. Before the first round, Rafał Trzaskowski enjoyed greater trust among PSL members. “In the first study, 80 percent of respondents were in favor of providing the support of one of the candidates in the second round. As many as 76 percent indicated Rafał Trzaskowski as the preferred candidate, while Karol Nawrocki supported only 5 percent of the respondents.” We still read: “In addition, PSL members were asked to determine their attitude towards individual political groups – from very negative to very positive. The results clearly indicated a definite reluctance to the Law and Justice camp.”

The second examination of the party describes: “after the first round of elections a second study was conducted – its result left no doubt. Nearly 75 percent of PSL members positively assessed the recommendation of voting for Rafał Trzaskowski. Only 11.9 percent of the respondents were against this – mostly preferred that the party did not provide formal support to any candidate.”

The statement of MP Czarnek in the Three Press Office PSL commented, among others: “In the Lublin Province, from which MP Czarnek comes, as much as 92 percent of PSL members expressed a negative attitude towards Law and Justice – of which as many as 67 percent as 'extremely negative'. Not one person declared 'very positive' attitude to PiS, but only 1.8 % Positive '”.
