272 thousand spent books: In 1973 bank PKO BP has launched a special program sale of babies. Holders of savings books paid installments into them, and when the entire amount was collected, they acquired the right to collect car. The order in which Fiat 126p was issued was determined on the basis of draws. The car was expensive in the early 1970s 69 thousand zlotyi.e. equivalent 20 average salaries. After signing the contract for savings book “F” (like Fiat 126p) you had to pay at least 5 thousand PLN and declare the year of collection of the car. The amount of installments and the final price of the car depended on this (the contribution was interest-bearing).
What to do with the book? Holders of these documents who have not yet purchased a Fiat 126p or FSO 1500 (large Fiat) can obtain compensation in connection with the money paid. To do this, they must go to a PKO BP branch with their booklet and ID card.
How much is the compensation? Until the end of December 2024, PKO BP paid out PLN 19,086 (if the prepayment was made to car brand Fiat 126p) or PLN 27,046 (in the case of FSO 1500). However, from April 1, 2025, compensation will increase accordingly 19,391 and PLN 27,479.
