He informed, among others, that the duties to China will be 34 percent, the European Union – 20 percent, Japan – 24 percent.

He said that the regulation he signed, regarding mutual duties on countries around the world, is an American “Declaration of Economic Independence”.

– We will apply 25 % duties to all cars produced abroad – he said.

Trump: 20 percent for the European Union

The American president explained that the mutual duties would be half the total duties and trade barriers of other countries.

“We'll calculate the total rate of all their tariffs, non -financial barriers and other forms of fraud,” Trump said, adding that because United States They are “very polite, the duties announced by the US will constitute half of the amount charged.”

He showed the table of imposed duties, listing rates for individual countries, including 34 percent for China, 20 percent – for the European Union, 46 percent – for Vietnam, 23 percent – for Japan and 26 percent – for India.

At the same time, he announced that the minimum customs rate for all other countries in the world would be 10 percent.

In total, Trump has signed two ordinances: one establishing relatives and the other eliminating the so -called De minimis exception, allowing for bringing goods from China with a value of up to $ 800, bypassing the duties. This gap was the basis of the activity of Chinese e-commerce platforms offering cheap products from China such as this and Shein.

The White House, in the summary of the decisions taken by Donald Trump, said that at midnight on April 5, the basic 10 % customs rate for products imported from all countries would enter into force, and on April 9 – for countries with which the US have the largest trade deficits. The new duties will not apply to Canada and Mexicoon which customs have already been applied. Steel, aluminum, cars and car parts are to be excluded from these tariffs, which are also the subject of separate 25 % duties, as well as copper, medicines, semiconductors and wood (these are to be additionally sought in the future), as well as energy carriers and minerals inaccessible in the US.

Trump: If any countries want to exclude from their duties, they must get rid of their own duties and barriers

– To all foreign presidents, prime ministers, kings, queens, ambassadors and all others who will soon call to ask for exceptions to these tariffs, I say: End your own tariffs, leaving the barriers, do not manipulate your currencies – said Trump.
