What is it about: On November 27, Donald Tusk took part in a meeting of the prime ministers of the Nordic and Baltic countries in Sweden. After the talks, a conference of heads of state was held – Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland. Then the Polish Prime Minister presented his proposals on security in the Baltic Sea region.
Donald Tusk: – I proposed a mission to patrol the Baltic Sea waters, so that it would be a joint mission (…). This has met with interest, we will work on the details, the politician said. – We have the same assessment of the current security situation, also when it comes to the necessary use of strategic resources in the Baltic Sea. We need new, ambitious ways to respond to threats, he added.
Response to Moscow's actions: As the Prime Minister emphasized, “there are traces that the Russians were at least involved in these serious sabotage activities in Poland.” – This means that, as the Prime Minister of Poland, I also want to feel safer when it comes to the Baltic Sea. There is no direct link between this initiative and the recent events at sea, but I think it will be better for all of us when we have full control over our territorial waters, he added.
