One of the basic products, without which it is difficult to imagine Easter, are eggs. However, BNP Paribas bank analysts do not have good news.

He adds that the average retail price of consumer eggs, according to the Central Statistical Office, in February 2025 amounted to PLN 1.05 per item, i.e. by 13 percent. more per year. – The main reason for the increase in prices is their limited supply on the domestic and EU market, which results from fewer laying hens – he explains. According to the BNP Paribas expert, prices for market uncertainty related to bird flu are favored. – Due to the seasonal increase in demand before Easter, we can still expect maintenance upward trend – adds Magdalena Kowalewska.

BNP Paribas analysts explain that, according to CSO data, the average retail price of wheat flour in February 2025 amounted to PLN 3.83/kg and was 1.3 percent lower. compared to February 2024. The average for the entire past year was PLN 3.87 per kilo.

Szymańska-Wrzos points out, however, that “in the event of adverse weather conditions in the northern hemisphere, especially water shortages or too high temperatures, we can expect increase in flour prices and persistent high prices bread later in the year. ”

Analysts indicate that according to CSO data, the average price of 200 g of butter cubes in 2024 was PLN 7.78 and was 12.8 percent higher. compared to the average price from 2023. According to BNP Paribas experts, “currently mayonnaise prices are several, several percent lower than a year ago.”

However, the further situation of the prices of this product is uncertain. “Due to the recent increases in oil and egg prices, two basic ingredients of the product, the purchase cost may increase slightly before Easter,” they explain.

– During Easter, Poles consume mainly pork -based meat products, including pork or sausage. Due to the decrease in pig purchase prices, we expect lower retail prices of pork – says Magdalena Kowalewska.

He adds that “in the case of meat products, however, increases are possible due to the increase in extra -waste production costs, mainly labor costs.” – However, you should be aware that both meat and meat products are often offered in promotions – he emphasizes.
