Under the pyramids in Giza there is a huge, underground city – such reports have recently begun to circulate on the Internet. The discovery was to be made by two researchers who convened a press conference in mid -March. However, these reports were overthrown by the well -known Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass. – They are completely wrong and have no scientific foundations – he emphasized.
In recent days, supporters of conspiracy theories have spread on portal X the findings of Italian scientists Corrado Malangi from the University of Pisa and Filippo Bondi from the Strathclyde University in Glasgow. “The Sun” describes that during a press conference on March 15, researchers announced the discovery of the “great underground city” under the pyramids in Giza, which is ten times larger than the pyramids themselves.
They claimed that thanks to the scanning of the Giza plateau, they revealed a network of structures stretching at a depth of over 600 meters below the construction. Their findings, although they have not yet been published by any reliable scientific journal, have quickly gained popularity in social media. There were graphics showing, among others Pyramids as the tops of giant columns covered with reliefs (bas -reliefs).
“Underground city under the pyramids?
Zahi Hawass, the famous Egyptian archaeologist and former Minister of Tourism and the antiquity of Egypt, reacted to these reports. Hawass emphasized that the claims about the existence under the pyramids in the Giza of the Underground City, or the embedding of pyramids on giant underground columns are “completely wrong and have no scientific basis.”
According to him, people disseminating these rumors are amateurs who used unformed and unconfirmed techniques. – The details they gave could not be detected using such methods- he assessed on Sunday, quoted by Ahram Online. He also added that the Ministry of Tourism and the antiquity of Egypt did not allow any work inside or around the pyramids in Giza.
