Fire in a tenement house. One person died and another was taken to hospital

One person died in a fire in a tenement house at Wiatraczna Street in Gorzów Wielkopolski, and the other one was taken to hospital in a serious condition – said Junior Brig. Arkadiusz Kaniak, spokesman for the Lubusz fire brigade.

Around 7:50 p.m., the services received a report about a fire in a building at Wiatraczna Street in Gorzów Wielkopolski. – The fire broke out in one of the apartments in a small tenement house with six apartments. Unfortunately, when the first crews arrived at the site, the fire was already extensive – says tvn24.pl, junior brigade. Arkadiusz Kaniak, spokesman for the Lubusz fire brigade.

It is known that some residents evacuated on their own before the arrival of the services. Some of them, however, had to be helped. – Firefighters helped a young woman who was in a serious condition. Fortunately, she was conscious. She was immediately handed over to the emergency medical team, adds Kaniak.

According to information provided by the fire brigade, one person was transported to the hospital. – We managed to locate the fire quite quickly and after several dozen minutes the situation was under control, but unfortunately the outcome of this event is tragic. A charred body was found in one of the apartments – says the spokesman of the Lubusz fire brigade.

The victim's identity is unknown at this time. – Of course, we have some assumptions, but the condition of the body does not allow us to clearly state this fact, so additional activities will be necessary – says the deputy commander. Grzegorz Jaroszewicz, spokesman for the Gorzów police.

The circumstances of the fire will be investigated by the police based on the findings of a fire expert.
