The fire of the shopping center hall at Marywilska Street in Warsaw was the result of arson at the request of the Russian services – the Minister of Justice and the Minister of the Interior said in a Sunday announcement.

The ministers reminded that on May 12 last year there was a fire of the Marywilska 44 shopping center in Warsaw, as a result of which “1,400 stores and service outlets completely burned down.” The statement reads that the fire of the object was “the effect of arson made at the request of Russian special services”.

“We have deepened knowledge about the order and the course of the arson and the manner of its documenting by the perpetrators. Their actions were organized and directed by a fixed person in the Russian Federation. Some perpetrators are already in custody, the others are identified and sought” – wrote in the announcement.

The ministers' statement emphasized that the prosecutor's office, police and ABW continue investigating and operational activities aimed at taking the perpetrators of arson. “The authorities of the Polish State are determined to attract the perpetrators of shameful acts of diversion and people managing them” – he noted.

It was also recalled that for nearly a year the investigation into the fire is conducted by the Faculty of the National Prosecutor's Office with the support of the Warsaw Police Headquarters and the Internal Security Agency. “Polish services cooperate with the Lithuanian side, where some perpetrators carried out subversive activities” – added.

“We would like to thank all public officials involved in the investigation, both on the process and operational and reconnaissance.

Tusk: “We'll get everyone!”

“We already know for sure that a great fire at Marywilska was the result of arson on behalf of the Russian services. The actions were coordinated by a person in Russia,” the prime minister wrote on Sunday evening Donald Tusk.
