Full Moon in July. It will be exceptionally beautiful

Must read

On the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Goat Moon will shine in the sky. This year, for two nights in a row, we will have excellent conditions for observing the disk of the Silver Globe, which – as it happens in the summer – will appear to us particularly magnificent and golden.

The native people of North America called the July full moon the Goat Moon, a name derived from the growing antlers of male deer, or bucks. It is in July that the rudiments of antlers begin to appear on the animals' heads, still covered in delicate down.

Other tribes called this full moon the Salmon Moon, the Raspberry Moon, or the Storm Moon. The Celts called it the Herb Moon or the Mead Moon, and the Anglo-Saxons called it the Hay Moon, in reference to the July haymaking.

A particularly charming spectacle

The culmination of the full moon will occur on Sunday at 12:17 Polish time. This means that the Silver Globe will present itself spectacularly on the night from Saturday to Sunday and from Sunday to Monday. As you can see in the photos sent to Kontakt 24, even before the full moon there was something to look at.

One of the distinguishing features of summer full moons in the northern hemisphere is that the moon's disk is low in the sky during them. This makes our natural satellite look very impressive then, and in addition, it often takes on a picturesque, golden color. This is due to the fact that its reflected light has to pass through a thicker layer of the Earth's atmosphere, which tends to scatter shorter, blue wavelengths.
