Professor Rafał Wnuk became the director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. Hanna Wróblewska, the minister of culture and national heritage, appointed him to this position. From April 2024 he is the director's duties. He will start a five -year term on April 1.
In a communiqué, posted on Friday on the website of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, it was recalled that Rafał Wnuk is a Polish historian, political scientist and museologicalist, professor of humanities.
“He is the author of about 100 scientific articles devoted to the history of World War II, post -war anti -communist conspiracy in Central and Eastern Europe, cultural memory and issues related to commemorations and museums, including +Betheen Heroization and Martyrology: The Second World War in Selected Museums in Central and Eastern Europe, The Polish Review+” – it was written on the website of the Ministry of Culture.

In the years 2002-10 he was the editor-in-chief of the half-year IPN entitled “Memory and Justice”, and in the years 2001-07 he managed the team preparing “Atlas of the Polish Independence Underground 1944-1956”.
It was explained that in 2008-17 he was the chief specialist at the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk, and in the years 2013-17 he was the head of the scientific department. “He is a co -author of the script of the main exhibition and the author of a large part of its content” – emphasized on the MKIDN website.
From April 1, 2024, Professor Wnuk is the director of the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk. He will start a five -year director's term on April 1, 2025.
