According to the AFP agency, negotiators dealing with Europe's affairs propose to enter into the contract that in all important issues in European policy Germany will look for a close agreement with partners from the Weimar triangle, i.e. with France and Poland. The goal is to perform in the European forum in a more united way, “for the use of the entire EU”.
Strengthening the Weimar triangle
The Weimarski triangle was established in 1991 on the initiative of the then ministers of foreign affairs of Germany, France and Poland. His intention was to accelerate European integration processes.
As the AFP agency points out in its message, during the rule PIS Cooperation within the triangle was considered difficult due to very divergent positions in European policy and dispute over the restrictions on the rule of law by Warsaw.

With regard to EU finances, future coalition partners want to maintain the position that Germany is not responsible for the obligations of other Member States.
“Financing from outside the EU budget must remain an exception” – states the work group document. He also calls for the “repayment plan” of the reconstruction plan launched during the coronavirus pandemic when another many years of EU financial framework is agreed.
CDU/CSU and SPD also press the greater use of majority decisions at the EU level. In some issues of common foreign and security policy, such as decisions regarding sanctions, the future German government wants to “advocate the extension of decisions made by a qualified majority of votes in the EU Council.” The document has that the current principle of consensus “should also not become a brake in making decisions” at meetings of heads and governments.
