The mayor of Września appeared in court. The local government is accused of corruption and false testimonies. He doesn't plead guilty. Tomasz K. faces up to 10 years imprisonment.

On Monday, a trial regarding corruption began, the mayor of Września Tomasz K. and three other persons, including a former bailiff and entrepreneurs, sat on the bench of Września. The prosecutor's office accused the local government of committing three crimes. The first of them concerns a request for a financial benefit of PLN 200,000. zloty. The findings of the investigation show that the local government, through other people, made a corruption proposal of the entrepreneur in exchange for withdrawing the termination of the property lease agreement for the construction of a biogas plant. The entrepreneur did not agree to the grant of a bribe, which resulted in – as the prosecutor's office indicated – the lack of withdrawal of the previously submitted statement of termination of the property lease agreement. Another of the accused of the accused concerns the attempt – through two other people (co -accused in this case) – granting a financial benefit to an officer of the Wielkopolska Customs and Tax Office in connection with his control. The last of the acts concerns false testimonies as part of another proceeding. Tomasz K. faces up to 10 years imprisonment.

He pleaded not guilty

The local government did not admit in court to the alleged acts. His defenders submitted a request to interrogate him only after the interrogation of two co -accused, who – according to the local government official – would like him. The court dismissed the application. K. said that he would explain explanations at a later stage of court proceedings. The next date of the hearing was set at the end of April.

He won the election, but he doesn't rule

In November 2023, the National Prosecutor's Office announced that Tomasz K. (PO) for over 20 years, was charged with a request for financial benefits for over 20 years. After the mayor detained by the CBA, the prosecutor applied to him, among others Suspension in official duties. However, Tomasz K. took part in last year's local government elections and in the second round he won re -election to the position of mayor of Września. At the session of the City Council, K. took the oath and received a certificate of re -election for this position.
