IMWM issued meteorological warnings. In four voivodeships, heavy rainfall may pose a threat at night. It will be dangerous in places until Saturday.
Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMWM) issued first-degree meteorological warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.
IMWM meteorological warnings – heavy rainfall
The lowest, first degree warnings against downpours apply in the following voivodeships:
- Pomeranianin the following counties: Wejherowo, Puck, Gdynia, Sopot, GdańskGdańsk, Kartuzy;
- West Pomeranian Voivodeshipin the poviats: Gryfice, Kamieński, Goleniów, Police, Szczecin, Świnoujście.;
- Podkarpackiein the following counties: Przemyśl, IndustryBieszczady, Lesko, Sanok, Brzozowski, Strzyżów, KrosnoKrosno and Jasło;
- Lesser Polandin the poviats: Gorlice, Nowy SączNowy Sącz, Limanowa, Nowy Targ and Tatra.
Moderate and sometimes heavy rainfall is forecast there. The expected amount of rainfall is from 30 to 40 liters of water per square meter.
Alarms in Western Pomerania will expire on Friday at midnight, and in Pomerania at 5 on the same day. In southern Poland it will be dangerous from midnight on Friday to midnight on Saturday.
What is a first-degree IMWM warning?
The first level warning provides for conditions conducive to the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by road traffic, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
