The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration has published instructions on how to behave when stuck at home during a flood. Our lives can be saved by specific gestures and colors that will help convey valuable information to rescuers.

Three colors of flags
If we are stuck at home or on the farm and need help, we should hang out a flag or cloth in white, blue and red. Each of them informs the services about our needs:
- white – need for evacuation;
- red – need for medical attention;
- blue – need for food and water.

When a helicopter appears over our house, we can use simple gestures to notify the rescuers of our needs:
- Two hands up, in the shape of the letter Y – “yes, I need help”
- One hand is placed diagonally down, the other is placed diagonally up – “no, everything is fine”

Emergency numbers
The Ministry of Interior and Administration also reminds about the necessary emergency numbers:
- 112 – emergency number;
- 999 – ambulance service;
- 998 – fire department;
- 997 – Police;
- 994 – water supply emergency service;
- 993 – thermal emergency service;
- 992 – gas emergency service;
- 991 – energy emergency service.
