Hungary, Viktor Orban congratulated the pro-Russian ruling Georgian Dream party on winning the elections

Viktor Orban will arrive in Tbilisi on Monday to personally congratulate the ruling Georgian Dream party on winning the elections, media in Tbilisi reported. The head of the Hungarian government has already congratulated the pro-Russian group. He was the first to do it, before the official results of the parliamentary elections were announced on Saturday.

The official visit of Viktor Orban and Hungarian ministers is expected to last two days. The NewsGeorgia portal wrote, citing the press service of the Georgian government, that the current authorities in Tbilisi (Georgian Dream party – ed.) consider the Prime Minister Hungarian as one of the main allies in Europe.

NewsGeorgia also writes that Orban will come to “personally congratulate” the Georgian Dream.

He was the first to offer congratulations

Congratulations also poured in for the ruling party Azerbaijan and Armenia. One of Russia's main propagandists, Margarita Simonyan, said on social media: “Georgians won. Well done!”

According to data from the Georgian Central Election Commission, the Georgian Dream party, which has been in power since 2012, won the elections with 54 percent. The opposition considered the elections rigged, and observers reported numerous abuses.

The president does not recognize the results

Pro-Western Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili announced on Sunday evening that she does not recognize the results of the parliamentary elections.

Zurabishvili assessed after the meeting with opposition leaders that Georgian voters had fallen victim to a “Russian special operation”, and announced a demonstration in the center of Tbilisi on Monday.
