Experiments from Polish schools will be performed by the Polish astronaut in orbit, at an international space station. Learning reaches stars – we have known it for a long time – but this time the ideas of Polish students turn out to be unearthly.

At breaks, Marysia and Julia talk about one. – I did not expect that at the age of 16 I would be part of such a great undertaking – admitted Julia Nowicka, a student from Płońsk.

It is their experiment that will soon be taken into space Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski. “For sure, each of us has ever waved anything in a drink.” (…) Such an ordinary phenomenon here on earth may look different at all and differ from that in space in a state of weightlessness – explained Maria Kamińska, a student from Płońsk.

Teachers are spreading pride. – Great pride is not enough if I had to describe my feelings. This experiment will become part of the educational program for primary schools – said Krzysztof Grzymała, director of the 1st High School Henryk Sienkiewicz in Płońsk.

National Lesson of Physics from Orbit

The experiment will also become part of a physics lesson that the Polish school has not yet seen. – It is one of my ambition to conduct a national lesson of physics from orbit, show how you live at the station – confessed Sławosz Uznański -Wiśniewski, an astronaut of the European Space Agency.

11 simple experiences from children and teenagers from all over the country will reach the station with the astronaut. – Our experiment is used to reduce the mass, because in space we have the conditions of microgravity, we cannot use such a typical kitchen scale – explained Marcelina Wawrzyńczyk, a student from Wrocław.

– What is it about? It consists in the fact that we lean the spring out of the balance position and depending on how often it will vibrate, we can measure the mass – explained his experiment Jan Adamski, a student from Wrocław.

– You can say that by accident. The sponge collapsed when I washed the floor. I thought and what would happen in space – this is how the source of her inspiration was explained by Weronika Piszczek -Dobrzycka, a student from Warsaw.

Another experiment uses a string with beads, which when falling out of the box rise up like a fountain stream. On earth it looks as if they deny gravity – nobody knows how it will be in space. The same applies to Newton's cradle. Without gravity, the threads would get tangled.

– It was necessary to design such a device from the beginning and this task was undertaken by Polish teachers, and Polish students from Pomerania performed it – said Anna Bukiewicz -Szul from the Polish Space Agency.

Students will connect to the astronaut

In addition, some students will be able to ask questions during a special combination with astronaut, and others – take part in competitions and workshops organized around the mission.

– Sławosz is now the hero of all young people. The fact that the other Pole will fly into space is here a moment that should be squeezed like a lemon – said Anna Bukiewicz -Szul.

– It is from the Polish school that you can leave and at the same time build global technology, participating in the most ambitious projects – pointed out Sławosz Uznański -Wiśniewski.

This is an opportunity to find a cosmic successor or successor – not to wait for another Pole in space for nearly 50 years.
