March 18 this year Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) directed a lawsuit towards the most important organs in tennis, i.e. ATP, WTA, ITF and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). There were a lot of charges towards these organizations – collusion to limit competition, set the amount of cash prizes and limit players' earnings, a fatal point system in rankings, poorly constructed calendar or disregarding players.

The vast majority of players were to indicate the urgent need to introduce numerous reforms. – Legal actions taken today are aimed at repairing tennis for today's players and future generations. The time has come for responsibility, real reform and a system that protects and strengthens the position of players. All stakeholders deserve a sport that works fairly and honestly – said Vasek Pospisil, co -founder of PTPA.

– Players are trapped in an unfair system that uses their talent, suppress their earnings and threatens their health and security – added Ahmad Nassar, executive director of PTPA. ATP and WTA have already responded to PTPA allegations. How?

“Questioning this unfounded legal matter will distract the time, attention and resources from our basic mission to the detriment of our players and the whole sport. The PTPA action is both poorer and erroneous. We reject the premises of PTPA claims, we think that the matter is completely unfounded and we will defend our position strongly” – reads in the content of ATP and WTA statements.

Świątek took the floor regarding the PTPA lawsuit. “I wasn't aware”

Journalists asked Iga Świątek for PTPA's claim after her match against Caroline Garcia (6: 2, 7: 5) in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. – To be honest, I don't have any thoughts on this subject, because I wasn't really involved in it or nobody asked me about it. So I was not aware that the claim was filed. I know more or less what you know, what everyone knows from the media. Everyone knows what I think about things contained in the lawsuit, because I talked about it openly in the past – she said.

– Nothing changes to me. Of course, the season is very long. I talked about it earlier. Playing for eleven months is quite crazy. I think that tennis fans would be equally interested and would even be more interested if the season was slightly short. Perhaps it would be easier to follow everything. These 11 months are pointless and too long. This is probably the most important thing I have always talked about – added Świątek at a post -match press conference.

In the next match in the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami Świątek he will play with Belgian Elise Mertens.
