IMWM warnings. The weather will be dangerous in these regions

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warns against heavy snowfall. There are also warnings for dense fog and ice. Check where it gets slippery and dangerous.

Forecasters from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued first-degree warnings on a three-level, increasing scale.

First degree IMWM warnings – icing

First degree warnings against icing were issued in the following voivodeships:

  • Lublin Province;
  • Podkarpackiein the northern half of the voivodeship;
  • Świętokrzyskieexcluding northern counties;
  • Podkarpackiein north-eastern counties.

It is forecast that the wet surface of roads and sidewalks will freeze after wet snow and sleet, causing their icing. The minimum temperature will be around -1 degrees Celsius, and at the ground it may drop from -3 to -1 degrees C. Alarms will be valid until 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

First degree IMWM warnings – heavy snowfall

Yellow alerts for heavy snowfall are in force in the following voivodeships:

  • Lesser Polandin the following counties: Gorlice, Nowy Sącz, Nowy SączLimanowskie, Nowy Targskie, Tatrzańskie;
  • Podkarpackiein the following counties: Jasło, Krosno, Krosno;
  • Lower Silesiain the following counties: Karkonosze, Jelenia GóraLwówek, Lubań.

Snowfall is forecast in these regions, causing an increase in snow cover of 10 to 20 centimeters. In Podkarpacie, the warnings will be valid until 7 on Tuesday, in Małopolska – until 16 on Tuesday. In Lower Silesia, the alarms will expire at 17 on Tuesday.

First degree IMWM warnings – dense fog

Yellow alerts for heavy fog have been issued in the following voivodeships:

  • Pomeranianin eastern counties;
  • Warmian-Masurian Voivodeshipoutside eastern counties;
  • Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeshipin eastern counties;
  • Masovian Voivodeshipin north-western counties;
  • Łódźexcluding western counties.

Dense fog is forecast, with visibility up to 100 meters in some places. In areas of fog and sub-zero temperatures, it may become slippery here and there. The warnings will be valid from 9 p.m. on Monday until 12 on Tuesday.

Conditions are expected to favor the occurrence of dangerous meteorological phenomena that may cause material losses and pose a threat to health and life. Conducting business in conditions of exposure to these factors is difficult and dangerous. Expect difficulties resulting from carrying out activities in the hazardous area, including delays caused by traffic disruptions, disruptions to outdoor events or the possibility of their cancellation. Caution is recommended, the need to follow messages and developments in the weather situation.
