We are introducing new, stricter regulations on alcohol advertising, the violation of which will result in a fine of up to PLN 750,000. This concerns, for example, stores that write about selling two wines for the price of one – said the Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna, in the “Tak jest” program on TVN24. The proposed act on upbringing in sobriety is also intended to change the regulations on packaging and age verification when selling alcohol.
Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna, asked in the “Tak jest” program on TVN24 about the changes that will be introduced in the Act on upbringing in sobriety, said that the new regulations will determine, among other things, the packaging in which alcohol can be sold.
– It has to be glass, it has to be metal, if we are talking about bottles up to 300 ml capacity, which is again regulated in the directive. I would love to ban monkeys, but I can't do it because we have international law that stipulates the amount of alcohol in packaging, explained the Minister of Health.
– Such packaging must in no way encourage people under 18 years of age to consume alcohol. It cannot be associated with relaxation, it cannot be associated with any pleasure – she added.
End of beer promotions?
When asked whether the act included a ban on advertising alcohol, Leszczyna admitted that such a provision would also be introduced.
– Unfortunately, entrepreneurs selling beer or producing beer take advantage of the fact that they advertise non-alcoholic beer. However, we are also introducing a provision in this Act that if a store or anyone else violates this Act, e.g. uses a price promotion (they will be punished – editor) – she said.
Changes in nicotine products
– We have completed talks on e-cigarettes, and on Thursday we will adopt a draft bill that states that disposable and reusable electronic cigarettes with nicotine-free liquid are prohibited for sale to children and adolescents under 18 years of age. They will not be available for purchase in vending machines or on the Internet. Vending machines must be abolished. At the same time, there is a law that prohibits flavors characteristic of innovative tobacco products – said the Minister of Health in “Tak jest”. We also have a draft bill ready to ban synthetic nicotine sachets, added Izabela Leszczyna.
